He'll Never Leave Us?
OK. So I am so thankful for Pastor Jim's current sermon series. Are you feeling a little overwhelmed by the current economic, political and moral situation in our world? Very often, I find myself worrying about what will happen tomorrow - will our business survive, will we able to pay our bills and much more. I came across something today that I wanted to share from a book entitled "Creative Counterpart" by Linda Dillow. I would love for you to read this and then offer up some encouragement to other women of how God has been faithful to you throughout your life and in the current world situation.
"I have been told there are more than 7,000 promises in the Bible. One of my favorites is found in Hebrews 13:5, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you.' Sounds good, doesn't it? But it's even better when you understand the full meaning. In the Greek language, in which the New Testament was written, there is what is called a triple negative. It is used when the author wants to be extremely emphatic. This is the only verse in the New Testament in which this tripe negative is used, and literally translated it reads: 'I will not, I will not, I will not in any degree leave you helpless, nor forsake you, nor relax my hold on you, assuredly not.' Now that's what I call a promise! And there are at least 6,999 more!"
So, let your sisters hear your encouraging words. What does this promise mean to you?

Having just completed the Esther study this promise now holds more meaning for me. Through that study I learned that God is not mentioned one time in the Book of Esther yet His hand is present throughout the entire book. What a perfect reminder for all of us that God will never leave us or forsake us, even when we feel He is not there and we are overwhelmed in our circumstance God is with us every step of the way.
He is faithful and can be trusted. He has our best interest at heart and His hold is tight. “I will never leave you or forsake you.” Praise Him!

It occurred to me while reading this…that your blog post and my last post are so connected! In a cool way!
Your reminder that God will never leave you nor forsake you may only carry it’s weight of meaning if you know without a shadow of a doubt who God is! If you view God as a loving Heavenly Father, then you would really appreciate and rest in the fact that God has promised to never leave you. However, if your view of God is hazy…you may see His promise to be with you uncomfortable or perhaps even unwelcome. I would encourage you to seek out who this omniscient, omnipresent, omnipotent God is in these unsettled times. For, it is in such unsettled times that His character has been most evident to me personally. I have learned through an unexpected pregnancy that overwhelmed me like a tsunami that God is good (see the last blog). And, about 10 years ago, I learned through an unexpected engagement break up which rocked my world like a hurricane in California, that God is my Provider! And that in the midst of a seemingly desert-like spiritual life, He can work. When you understand God’s supreme characteristics you will find yourself settled even in the most unsettling times!
